MESSAGE TO ALL PARENTS AND CARERS
Dear Parent or Carer
I am proud to announce that through detailed consultation with the DFE, The Rodillian Academy Trust has been asked in principle to include Purston Academy within its family of schools. This agreement will begin on the 28th April 2014, where I will be undertaking to support Purston in an Executive Headteacher role. I will be supported by Jason Kenneally who will join the school as Deputy Head.
The Rodillian Academy Trust, was borne out of the success of The Rodillian Academy, achieving excellent results and moving from 19% A*-C including English and Maths in 2007, to 72% A*-C including English and Maths in 2013, making it the most improved school in the North of England and placing it in the top 0.2% of schools nationally for the value it adds to students.
The successful journey described briefly above has been based on a foundation of traditional values of discipline and respect which are sacrosanct aligned with an innovative curriculum, relevant to the 21st century. A curriculum which will provide your child with increased time to specialise in subjects, coupled with a quality of teaching that provides students with the opportunities to demonstrate good and exceptional progress and attainment over time. Therefore, leading to career and educational opportunities that their nurtured talent deserves.
As an academy trust we do not tolerate bullying, defiance or rudeness to staff and this makes for a harmonious and safe learning environment for our young people. Where their self confidence can flourish and a supportive environment for staff, where they can concentrate their efforts on teaching and their own continuing professional development. Purston Academy is also committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
As part of The Rodillian Academy Trust, Purston Academy will utilise the strengths, expertise and qualities of the organisation through enhancing the talent that already exists, sharing professional practice and further recruitment should the need arise. Professional network is underpinned by the fact that all the schools within the trust are based within 20 minutes of The Rodillian Academy, allowing for a local, sustainable support network that is both challenging and aspirational in its drive for success for the young people in its care.
I hope this brief introduction has given you an overview of the changes that are taking place at Purston Academy in the immediate future.
Further to this, I would like to invite you to a parent / carer information evening on Wednesday 7th May 2014 at 6.30pm at the academy where I can formally introduce myself and outline my vision for the making the academy an exceptional place to learn by providing a high quality of education for all.
In the meantime if you would like further information on The Rodillian Academy Trust please follow the link below:
Finally I would like to thank Mr Rob Rossides for the work he has undertaken as interim Principal of the Purston Academy and I wish him every success for the future.
Mr A Goulty
